Maidenhead United striker Josh Kelly has left the club to join fellow National League side Solihull Moors for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old has made a big impact since breaking into Alan Devonshire’s side from the club’s academy system.
He scored 17 goals in all competitions last season, leading to reported interest from Moors and Southend United as he headed into the final year of his contract at York Road.
Boss Alan Devonshire said the Magpies were ‘gutted’ see the young forward depart but admitted that Kelly wanted a new challenge.
He will now play full-time football at Moors, who narrowly missed out on promotion to the Football League via the play-offs last season.
Devonshire said: “We are obviously gutted to lose Josh and had hoped he would stay for the final year of his contract, but he wanted a new challenge and the opportunity for football time football, so we had to make the difficult decision to let him go.”
Kelly made 127 appearances for the Magpies between 2018 and 2022, scoring 27 goals.
