Bray 'foodie fete' will bring together top players in village's cuisine scene

The Fat Duck is one of the participating outlets.

The return of Bray Fete on September 8 will bring foodies flocking – with major players in the village’s food scene gathering together to tantalise visitors with tasty signatures.

The cherished tradition of the Bray Village Fete is making a grand return after more than a decade away.

Renowned as the home to some of the UK’s best gourmet restaurants, Bray will be celebrating this rich reputation in style with a ‘foodie fete’ slant on the festivities.

It promises a day filled with performances and ‘exceptional culinary experiences,’ with a food tent showcasing the ‘incredible world-class restaurants’ of Bray in one place.

Participating outlets are preparing a particular signature dish each for people to try, crafted by top chefs.

Visitors can sample a hog roast, gourmet burgers and more.

Featuring will be renowned restaurant The Fat Duck, alongside The Hinds Head historic pub.

Both part of the Heston Blumenthal group of restaurants, normally they operate separately – but for this event they are joining forces in the ‘togetherness spirit.’

They will be presenting a new project of ‘perfectly imperfect sweets,’ produced in The Fat Duck, available from The Hinds Head.

This makes these sweets available without people needing to book a place at The Fat Duck.

Meanwhile, historic 16th-century pub The Crown at Bray a will be serving its signature prawn cocktail.

Caldesi in Campagna Italian restaurant from Old Mill Lane is making an exciting appearance too.

Chef and restaurateur Giancarlo Caldesi, known for his expertise in Italian cuisine, will be cooking his special pasta recipe himself on site.

This event brings together some big players on the Bray food scene ‘probably for the first time – definitely for a long time,’ say the fete organisers.

On the entertainment side of things, there will be performances from Susan Handy School of Dance, including a preview of their Mary Poppins production showing at 11.30am and 12.45pm.

Visitors can enjoy music from the Watershed Band at 11.50am and 2pm, as well as The Bracknell and Wokingham Community Band from 3pm.

Furry friends are welcome to participate in the dog show, showcasing the best four-legged friends in the region – and children can enjoy fairground rides provided by Lee Events.

The event will also feature a bar run by Bray Village Hall, coffee from Moneyrow Beans, ice creams by Roberto, a cake stall and games by Braywick Court School, a bottle stall run by the Bray Senior Citizen’s Club, a bag stall by Vanessa Moore, and ‘A Taste of Girls Guiding’ stall by the Brownies and Rainbows.

Neighbourhood police will be there with virtual reality headsets and a police car for visitors to experience.

Additionally, there will be a rowing competition hosted by Eton Excelsior Rowing Club.

The Bray Fete committee, lead sponsor Giancarlo Caldesi and a team of volunteers are ‘working tirelessly’ to present a ‘fantastic array of activities for both residents and visitors to enjoy.’

Bray Fete will be held on the Bray Village Green on Sunday, September 8, from 11am to 4pm.
