Flackwell Heath 1, Shrivenham 2
Flackwell Heath lacked a bit of bite in the final third as they went down to defeat against a workmanlike Shrivenham on Saturday.
The Heathens were unable to prevent their visitors from continuing their recent surge up the Hellenic Premier Division table, despite taking the lead through Simeon Weekes.
Khalid Simmo and Taylor were the providers, with Taylor’s shot palmed out by the Shrivenham keeper Curtis Meare, and Weekes clinical finishing the follow up.
Flackwell looked to build on their advantage and were kicking themselves that they didn’t when Ryan Stanners robbed Tyler Gregory and sprinted through on goal before slotting past Watkins.
Meare made a smart save from Simmo’s rocket early in the second half. Shrivenham had a penalty shout turned down on the hour mark, but continued to turn the screw on their hosts and, with 18 minutes to play.
Zac Skinner went clean through on goal, rounded the keeper and tucked the ball home for his first league goal.
Flackwell pressed and probed for a leveller in the closing stages but could not come up with it. Shrivenham rise to third in the table while Flackwell, who’ve played fewer games than their rivals, are 13th ahead of Tuesday’s home game with Brackley Town Saints at Wilks Park.
