Salt Hill Activity Centre in Slough has launched inclusive sessions to support people who are neurodivergent or have a disability.
The inclusive sessions are available for bowling, soft play and trampolining and will have reduced capacity with no music or disco lights during the session.
The goal is to create a calmer setting to enjoy fun activities, recognising that typical leisure and recreation environments can be uncomfortable or overwhelming for some.
Luke Routhorn, contract manager for Everyone Active in Slough said: “We have some brilliant activities here at Salt Hill, but recognise that loud, busy and bright environments aren’t suitable for everyone.
“That’s why we’re really proud to launch our range of inclusive sessions, inviting people of all ages and abilities to enjoy an activity of their choice in a calmer, quieter setting.”
Taking place every week, the timings are as follows:
Although open to everyone, the inclusive sessions are designed to support those who experience sensory differences, such as people with autism or ADHD, or people living with a physical or learning disability who would benefit from a more peaceful environment.
Salt Hill Activity Centre is managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Slough Borough Council and other sites managed by Everyone Active in Slough offer accessible and inclusive sessions.
This includes Langley Leisure Centre which offers quiet and disabled swims, and Slough Ice Arena which has inclusive ice skating sessions for beginners.
Luke added: “Here at Everyone Active, inclusivity is at the heart of what we do, and we aim to encourage all corners of the community to get active and enjoy trying something new.”
