Licensing application for Long Walk Live music festival in Windsor

A new live music festival may be coming to The Long Walk in Windsor next summer if the Royal Borough approves it.

A licensing application was submitted to the council seeking permission to host a two-day open-air music event on Crown Estate land, set to take place in School Field near The Long Walk.

The organisers, Windsor Festival Society Ltd, have worked on similar events to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee and the King’s Coronation ceremony.

If the application is approved, 14,000 guests, including staff and volunteers, are expected at Long Walk Live next year over two days, on Friday 26 June and Saturday 27 June.

The festival will run from 10am until 10.45pm each day, with live music performances planned on the main stage as well as recorded music during the intervals.

Other performances proposed include choreographed dances, DJs, spoken word, street performers and entertainers.

Food vendors and three bar areas will be brought to the site and sound testing will be carried out the day before the festival starts.

The licence holder needs to follow four conditions under the council’s licensing policy: ensuring public safety, preventing public nuisance as well as crime and disorder and protecting children.

The site of the festival will be fenced with tickets and bags to be checked on entry.

Both entry and exit points will also be managed by security to avoid overcrowding.

A designated area for families and children is proposed, and a ‘no tolerance’ policy for drugs or antisocial behaviour will be in place.

As part of the application the Windsor Festival Society said: “By implementing these measures, Long Walk Live will provide a safe, well-managed, and enjoyable experience for all attendees while ensuring full compliance with licensing regulations.”

The organisers said noise levels will also be monitored to ‘minimise disruption to surrounding areas’.

A transport management plan is proposed to control traffic congestion and disruption to local residents, with public transport information to be made available for those attending.

Residents can submit their comments to the application until December 1.
