Lantern Parade postponed due to weather warning

Maidenhead's 2024 Lantern Parade - originally set for tomorrow (Saturday, December 7) - has been postponed due to the weather warning issued today.

Norden Farm has announced that due to adverse weather and high winds it has taken 'the difficult decision' to postpone the popular annual event.

The free-to-attend event was set to kick off from 4.30pm with live entertainment, and the parade departing from Maidenhead Town Hall at 5pm.

But Storm Darragh is set to impact 'large parts of the UK' tomorrow, with strong winds and some heavy rain.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Maidenhead, Windsor and Slough with winds expected to reach as high as 60mph.

Weather is expected to be bad enough that it was announced earlier today that all access to Windsor Great Park will be closed on Saturday too, due to the strong winds forecast.

The new date for the Lantern Parade is yet to be announced.

Norden Farm said: "The decision was not taken lightly, but was essential for ensuring the safety of parade goers, performers and the team.

"We would like to that everyone who has got involved in this year's Lantern Parade by taking part in one of our workshops at school, as part of a community group, at Norden Farm or in the town centre."
