A 39-year-old man has been jailed and fined for stealing more than £1000 in cash from a Slough restaurant.
Mohammed Raheel of Trelawney Avenue, Slough, pleaded guilty to one count of burglary at Slough Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (May 28).
Raheel entered a restaurant on London Road while it was closed to the public and accessed the till at around 5.40pm on May 9 this year.
He proceeded to steal £1,050 cash from the till before leaving.
Raheel was arrested on May 24 and charged the following day.
He was handed a six-month jail sentence and fined £154 at the Slough Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (May 28).
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Sikander Channa, part of Berkshire East’s Priority Crime Team, said: “Burglary has a significant impact on business communities when earnings are unlawfully stolen.
“Thames Valley Police are committed to protecting and safeguarding its communities and businesses.
“It is clear that Mohammed Raheel had little regard to the harm he caused to the business. I’m glad that the court have passed a custodial sentence as it provides closure to the victim.”
