Time has seemingly stood still at one of Maidenhead’s most famous landmarks – The Jubilee Clock Tower.
The historic Victorian clock was built to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897 and has stood proudly in the town centre for more than 125 years.
But passers-by noticed in recent weeks how the tower’s analogue clock face – complete with a diamond pattern to commemorate the jubilee – has been stuck at 10 o’clock.
When contacted by the Advertiser about the stopped clock, the council confirmed it was in contact with external contractors to resolve the issue.
A spokesperson said: “The issue has been noted and will be investigated further, and hopefully resolved, on Thursday.”
On April 1 this year, the Advertiser reported how the historic clock was set for a modern makeover with the introduction of a digital display.
Reporter Flora Pilo revealed plans for the clock to feature a large black screen with a 24-hour illuminated display.
