A post office in Maidenhead will be closed for one month as it undergoes a refurbishment with a new postmaster.
The Highway Post Office on Highway Avenue has been shut since Friday (January 17) and will remain temporarily closed while a 'big refit' is undertaken.
A new postmaster is replacing Hardip Sembi who had been there for 21 years and left the branch in December last year.
The last full day under the management of Harminder and Hardip Sembi was Tuesday, December 3 and a message posted on the Highway Stores and Post Office door read:
"It comes with a heavy heart that we are having to say goodbye to our customers and our business as we cease to trade this week under our current management.
"We would like to thank you all for your kindness, support and loyalty over the last 21 years, which we have always appreciated and valued."
It is estimated that the extensive building work will take approximately four weeks and the premises is due to re-open on Monday, February 17.

Post Office Area Change Manager Simon Grant said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers during the work.
"The safety of our customers is paramount, therefore, to allow for the building work to take place, it is necessary for the service to close temporarily.”
