Major refurbishment works on the Tempo building in Maidenhead town centre are not expected to be completed until 2025.
Work has been ongoing since March 2022 to transform the former Three UK headquarters into ‘one of the greenest and most sustainable’ office blocks in the Thames Valley.
But the £40million project has been beset by delays with an original completion date of May 2023 long since passed.
Building owners, Legal & General Investment Management, told the Advertiser: “We expect the site to be completed in spring/summer next year.
“Our main contractor had to appoint a new sub-contractor for the façade but progress is picking up now.”
US pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson has agreed a deal to move into the state-of-the-art offices once the scheme is completed.
The multinational firm will be uniting all staff from its Thames Valley campuses at its new hub in Maidenhead with the move expected to take place in 2026.
US tool firm Stanley Black & Decker is also set to lease the top floor of the building.
The American company will be moving from its previous base in Bath Road, Slough.
Alan Carswell, property director at Stanley Black & Decker, said the Tempo building represented the ‘perfect fit’ for the company when the move was announced in December.
A shared 5,000 sq ft roof terrace is planned as well as a ground floor café which will be open to members of the public.
