Having a plan is the key to success, says the director of independent chartered accountants Wilson Partners.
“It sounds simple,” said director Allan Wilson.
“A lot of companies have good ideas but to grow to the next stage you really need to develop your unique selling point and focus, and that requires a good plan.”
Allan was speaking ahead of the first annual Maidenhead and Windsor Business Awards in September this year that will recognise excellence in businesses of all sizes and industries in the area.
His company is sponsoring the Best SME Award where entrants need to demonstrate an outstanding financial track record, with strong sales growth and a commitment to increasing profitability.
On sponsoring the category, Allan added: “It’s the sort of client we work best with. It will be exciting to see the quality of businesses in the town.”
EcoAlly is a sustainable lighting consultancy that specialises in LED lighting.
Managing director, Mahwish Siddique, said she chose to sponsor the Best Innovation Award after the success it has had delivering projects in the Middle East, which included a project to light up an entire city with LED lighting.
She said: “I hoped our own success in terms of providing innovative solutions could inspire other start-ups in the area.”
The judges in this category will look for evidence of how the innovation has been developed and applied to improve commercial performance, operational effectiveness or customer engagement.
President of Maidenhead and District Chamber of Commerce, Olu Odeniyi, said: “Innovation is at the heart of breakthrough technologies, new ways of working and helps companies gain a competitive edge in addition to making life better for others. Given innovative ideas can be expressed across all sectors I hope non technical companies will also apply for this award.”
