Staff from The Ritz Hotel in London visited a toiletries recycling charity on Tuesday to help raise its profile.
Clean Conscience based in Thimble Business Park in Sturt Green recycles unused and partly used toiletries from hotels and repackages them into care kits for the homeless.
The Ritz signed up to provide Clean Conscience with its toiletries almost a year ago and staff were visiting the base to see what happens once their toiletries leave the hotel.
Eight members of staff from the prestigious hotel, including CEO Ciarán Fahy, packed 200 care kits on the visit.
He said: “We really want to encourage other hotels to follow our example and sign up to this.”
“It’s great what the charity does and so are all the volunteers who work here.”
Gwen Powell, who founded the charity, said: “We are delighted The Ritz came down today.”
“We really want to encourage other hotels to join us and we’re glad they can help us promote what we do. We’re also looking for corporate companies to sponsor our care packages.”
Red Carnation which own six boutique hotels in London recently signed up to the charity.
