For singer-song writer Beverley Craven, performing to audiences is all about having the opportunity to enjoy herself.
After first finding fame in the 90s she is now is now back with a new tour.
Featuring a catalogue of previous hits the 49-year-old will also be singing a collection of her new material.
Having been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004 the 'Promise Me' singer has now being given the all-clear and says the experience has altered her perspective on her music.
"I do not get nervous going on stage any more, it is nothing to cope with singing a few songs.
"It has affected my song writing as well."
Following a successful series of hits Beverley took a break from the industry in the mid 90's to raise her three daughters who have become her main focus.
"In my early twenties my life was about song writing and walking the dog.
"Now I am kind of settled and it is not my priority any more but is something I still enjoy."
At the moment Beverley is busy recording a number of new songs and revamping previous hits 'the way she wanted to do them'.
Pointing to her influences for her music she places British singer Sade in high regard.
"I have always loved the sparseness of her productions and I really like the tone of her voice."
As well as recording new music and raising a family, the soulful singer has recently finished writing her autobiography entitled 'Truth Be Told' which highlights the ups an downs of her family life and career so far.
Preparing to step onto the stage once again she said she is really looking forward to the experience.
"I can't wait, it is great.
"It is always quite inspiring I think when I get some gigs coming up."
