Teen arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over stabbing outside Maidenhead Mosque

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was assaulted outside Maidenhead Mosque in Holmanleaze today (May 30).

The victim, a man in his 30s, is receiving treatment in hospital over the attack. Police said he had suffered serious injuries but was in a stable condition.  

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 1.40pm; where at least five police cars, a dozen officers and a police cordon remained in place at 4.30pm. First aid kits could be seen on the ground beside a silver car parked in the road. 

A statement from Islamic Trust Maidenhead on WhatsApp, seen by the Advertiser, said the incident was ‘not in any way connected to Islamic Trust Maidenhead or Maidenhead Mosque’.

Police are appealing for witnesses and have urged against sharing footage of the incident on social media.

Investigating officer detective inspector Sarah Noah said police believed the two people involved were known to each other and that there was 'no known threat to the wider public'.

DI Noah continued: “We have made an arrest and we are not looking for anyone else in relation to the stabbing.

“I am appealing to anybody who witnessed what happened to please contact us.”
