How to fly the Union Jack flag correctly

I wonder if the time has come to remind people in our area of the correct way to fly our national flag.

One prominent local British motor dealership near the town centre is currently flying the flag upside down – probably through ignorance rather than any attempt to cause offence.

A gentle reminder in the Maidenhead Advertiser might help and could provide a bit of light (albeit educational) relief to deflect your readers’ minds from the hot topic of the dreadful weather.

Happy New Year to the team.

Editor’s note: The broad white diagonal needs to be in the top quarter nearest the flagpole, or uppermost in the top-left corner if the flag is held flat – as in the great moment from the Olympics pictured above.
