Normal services resumed this weekend after trains between Reading and London Paddington were left running at reduced capacity on Thursday and Friday.
In a freak occurrence, two unrelated fires damaged signalling equipment in Acton and Hayes at approximately the same time late on Thursday morning causing travel chaos, with only two of the four lines from Paddington in operation for nearly two days.
Trains were cancelled or delayed for hours, but a spokesman for Network Rail said technicians worked round the clock to repair the damaged equipment, with all four lines back in operation by 5.20am on Saturday morning.
