A gas leak has caused Queen Street in Maidenhead town centre to be cordoned off by police while surrounding businesses have been evacuated.
The road has been closed to both vehicles and pedestrians while two appliances from Maidenhead fire station are also on the scene.
Fire crews were called out at 2pm after reports of a strong smell of gas was reported in the area.
Transco gas transporters are also at the site.
It has been confirmed the gas leak is coming from the Oven and Grill takeaway, next door to On Time taxi rank.
Police confirmed the gas levels are decreasing.
UPDATE: 4.20PM: St Ives Road/York Road is free flowing now and has been since 3.10pm.
