A lane will be closed at junction seven of the M4 to allow overnight concrete investigations to take place this week.
Work will be carried out on the Huntercombe Spur Road bridge over the motorway between 10pm-6am from today until Wednesday.
A lane on either the east or westbound carriageway will be closed to help establish future maintenance requirements.
Safety barrier maintenance work will continue on the central reserve between junctions 10 and 11.
Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place 24 hours a day on both carriageways and there will be occasional overnight lane closures between 10pm-6am.
Barrier work started on Monday last week and will continue over the Christmas period, with completion expected by the end of March 2013.
