Hard pressed Royal Mail sorters struggling to clear the Christmas backlog had a surprise visitor this morning - Home Secretery Theresa May.
Mrs May, who is also Maidenhead's MP, took time off from matters of state to visit the sorting office in Stafferton Way in Maidenhead where she spoke to members of the busy team, including Rick Fletcher (pictured).
Rick, who lives in Lane End near Marlow, had plenty to talk to her about.
He said: "The rush really started two or three weeks ago. But I can't complain. I am in the TA and missed Christmas altogether last year when I spent six months in Afghanistan."
This year will be a bit quieter for him, spent with friends and family - once he has finished sorting out all that mail.
