A sporting competition which involved nearly 3,000 young people across the area has won a Youth Sport Trust School Sports Award.
The Berkshire School Games 2012 was named regional winner for the South in the Outstanding Engagement in Competition category and came second in the national final.
Children from schools in the Royal Borough were among those who took part in Olympic-style events in April and June as competitors, events staff, officials and opening ceremony performers.
The Games were delivered by county sports partnership Get Berkshire Active and the Local Organising Committee, with the help of lottery funding from Sport England.
As a regional winner, the Berkshire School Games secured an automatic place at the national final held on Tuesday, October 16, in Kettering, where it finished as the runner up in its category.
