A taxi driver accused of rape could face a retrial after a jury failed to reach a verdict on his case.
Amir Ali appeared for trial at Reading Crown Court last week charged with raping a female customer in the early hours of Sunday, March 4, while giving her a lift home from a night out.
The 26-year-old had admitted having sex with the woman but claimed it was consensual.
The jury went out to consider its verdict on Friday morning but was discharged later in the day when it became clear it could not reach a decision.
The case is due back before the same court on November 9 where a decision on a retrial is expected to be made.
