British legion pals celebrate £3.5m lottery win

A group of friends from the Cippenham Royal British Legion have won more then £3m on the National Lottery.

Barry Jackson, 58, Brendan O'Rourke, 44, both from Cippenham, Peter Lloyd, 73, from Taplow, and Dennis Speers, 70, from Windsor, have each netted a total of £893,634.75 following their syndicate win.

The group of friends, who have know each other for the past 20 years, found out they won on Sunday morning after syndicate leader Barry, rang his pals with the good news.

The Cippenham resident said: "It's a lovely amount to win and I will certainly be looking after my family but would also like to treat myself to a new car - maybe a BMW or a Mercedes - and I know the others have some travel plans in mind."

The group have been playing the same numbers on their syndicate every Saturday for the last 10 years.

Cippenham RBL club chairman Peter, is now planning a trip to New Zealand and Australia  where he will visit his niece in Auckland.

He added: "I am also going to buy a new car - a Jaguar or Land Rover in British racing green with a cream exterior."

A presentation of the cash took place at the RBL in Brook Path today, complete with a giant cheque and plenty of champagne.
