A shopper who bought a Chinese vase for £5 in a second-hand shop in Maidenhead sold it at auction last week for £18,000.
The 77-year-old retired air hostess and property developer, who does not want to be named, is said to be delighted after the vase was sold at a John Nicholson auctioneers in Fernhurst, Surrey, on Wednesday, July 2.
The vase had been drilled and made into a lamp when she bought it from a shop in Maidenhead in the Sixties.
The purchaser, formerly of Bray High Street, plans to give the money to her family and friends.
