Trademark beard surrendered for Matt's Fund

A sales assistant at plumbing firm Grant & Stone has had his trademark beard and head shaved in aid of Matt’s Fund.

Before the charity event at the store in Gardner Road, Maidenhead, on Friday, Marc Allnut had not been clean shaven since he was 14.

The 24-year-old, who lives in Strande Park in Cookham, said he wanted to raise money to 'support the local lad' who is the same age as him.

Marc said: "I keep going to stroke my beard. It feels strange without it."

He has raised more than £800 with a target of £1,000.

Matt's Fund was set up to raise £150,000 to send young father Matt Rackley to America for a state-of-the-art cancer treatment which is not available on the NHS.

Matt, who has a one-year-old son Freddie with his partner Hollie, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in April 2012.
