There is such a thing as the gruffalo as parents and children found out at Little Fishes Pre-School Fair.
Children met the beast and stories were read to the children at the annual fair held at Furze Platt War Memorial Hall in Furze Platt Road.
"[It was] fantastic, we had a really good day," said committee member Nicola Woolcott, adding they had decided to step away from the usual Peppa Pig.
"It is the first time we have done it with the gruffalo."
As well as stories, there were stalls, ice-creams, a tombola and a bouncy castle.
Children also enjoyed the sit-on toy car race track.
Funds raised from the fair will go towards new equipment for the pre-school.
The event was held yesterday.
