A healthcare consultant is hoping to be among a team of novice sailors yachting across the Atlantic in aid of an international children's charity.
Sarah Nightingale, of Boyn Hill Avenue, is one of hundreds of London-based Informa staff, a company that provides specialised information, who applied for a place on its team tackling the ARC Race.
The 14-day trip will see a crew of 16 sail from Gran Canaria on November 16 to St Lucia for the Save the Children charity.
A skipper and four qualified crew members will join the team of 11 novice sailors.
Sarah has reached the final shortlist of 30 and has her fingers crossed she will make the final cut. All staff involved have been raising money for the charity.
The 26-year-old said: "This is a massive challenge."
"With recent events, like the sinking of the Cheeki Rafiki, it makes you realise that things can go wrong, even with a professional crew.
"It reminds everyone that this isn’t just a sailing jolly."
