It has been announced that a health and fitness centre will close to make way for the Chapel Arches development.
La Roche Gym, in Crown Lane, Maidenhead, will close its doors on July 31 so that redevelopment work can start.
The construction of more than 200 apartments, shops and cafes is part of the Shanly Group’s £100m development, one of many projects in Maidenhead that aim to regenerate the town.
Club manager Steve Aluko said: “The loss of the gym is disappointing.
“But the leisure facilities already in place locally and those on the horizon mean that there are existing and better equipped alternatives.”
The gym will close at 5pm on Thursday, July 31.
Any pre-paid fees will be reimbursed and the gym is currently contacting other facilities in the area to negotiate deals for its members.
Mr Aluko has thanked the loyalty of members over the past few years.
