An inquest has opened into the death of a young construction worker who was working on the town's new Premier Inn.
Benjamin Wylie, 24, from Swindon died at the West Street building site on Tuesday, May 13.
The Berkshire coroner's office said that an inquest has opened but police and the Health and Safety Executive is in charge of the investigation.
Construction firm McAleer and Rushe is building the hotel.
A spokesman said the death was due to a 'catastrophic parts failure' during a routine maintenance procedure.
