A new Tesco Express will be opening its doors in Furze Platt early next month.
The firm also said it received 196 applications for the 17 jobs created at the new store in Furze Platt Road.
A spokesman said the shop is expected to open in 'early June' but could not give a date. It will open from 6am-11pm.
It is opening on the site of the former Golden Harp pub.
The closure of the pub and conversion to a shop has been opposed by the Furze Platt Action Group (FPAG).
