Flames from two blazing cars were extinguished by a fire crew from Maidenhead fire station in the early hours of this morning.
Residents from Blenheim Road were woken up by the sound of a continual loud banging noise and car horns at around 2am.
Richard Butler, 44, lives on the road and called the fire brigade after a Ford Focus and Volkswagen Polo, which were parked next to each other, caught alight.
The carer said: “I was about to go to bed when I heard a huge bang.
“As soon as I looked out my bottom window and saw that one of the cars was on fire I called the fire brigade.”
Neighbour Susan Penford had fumes of smoke billowing towards her house.
The 66-year-old said: “I woke up and smelt smoke and the blue car was up in flames.
“I have never experienced anything like this, especially right on my doorstep.”
Fire crews are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
