The headteacher of Furze Platt Senior School has revealed that a new £1.6m leisure centre could be developed on the site.
Tanya White said in the latest school newsletter that discussions have been held with the Royal Borough.
Cabinet members will decide at a meeting later this month whether to vote for an investment programme on the site in Furze Platt Road.
The leisure centre would provide an astro-turf pitch, four multi-surface spaces with flood lighting, a new 60 station gym and improved drainage on the fields to provide better quality pitches.
As part of the plan there would also be a new cricket pitch and nets, and refurbished sports hall changing facilities.
