A fire service spokeswoman says the La Roche Gym is temporarily shut after a chemical spill.
The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue service were called to Crown Lane, Maidenhead at 12.05pm to attend a chemical spill. One fire engine from Maidenhead attended, alongside the area’s incident commander and the hazardous materials unit, both from Reading.
The La Roche gym was evacuated, and an investigation to establish the leak’ cause is ‘on going.’
Fire crew left the area at 2.45pm, but advised the gym’s managers to keep the building closed to the public until its maintenance team has fixed the problem.
Crown Lane and Bridge Street have been temporarily closed to traffic but are expected to reopen soon.
La Roche were unavailable for contact.
