The Royal Borough announced in July that it was considering plans to transform the Desborough Suite into a multi-purpose entertainment centre.
An independent report, carried out by DCA, stated the plans could be key in the regeneration of Maidenhead but warned of the impact on other art centres, including Norden Farm Centre for the Arts.
The council's cabinet will decide whether to sanction a £75,000 feasibility study to look into the possibility of creating a new venue at a meeting tonight.
Reporter Luke Matthews spoke to Cllr Claire Stretton about the proposal and the issues which surround it.
