A highly commended award was handed to the Maidenhead Advertiser recognising its 'well designed' and 'newsy' website at a regional press award ceremony yesterday.
The Advertiser's website was nominated alongside three other local sites in the website of the year category at the EDF Energy London and South of England Media Awards 2013.
Judges described the site as 'the primary source of news' for the Maidenhead area and said they were impressed with its content including its video news which ‘keeps readers coming back for more’.
The judging panel added: "The site is well designed and newsy."
The Advertiser's sister paper, The Slough Express, also took home the top prize for free weekly newspaper of the year.
The awards, held in association with Hold the Front Page, honour the best in local journalism across London, Dorset, Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey, East and West Sussex and Kent.
More than 300 entries were put forward in 20 categories. Prizes were presented at Sandown Racecourse by Maidenhead resident and Paralympic rowing gold medallist Tom Aggar and EDF station director Martin Pearson.
