Firefighters rescued an elderly man who had fallen against his bedroom door trapping himself in the room.
A crew from Maidenhead was sent to Edinburgh Road at about 5.30am.
Firefighters had to carefully break down the door using small cutting gear to free the man.
Watch manager Chris Havers said: "Very often when you go to things like that, it does not look good.
"He was a lovely character. He did not look to unwell."
Firefigthers spent about 40 minutes at the scene.
The man is not believed to have been seriously hurt by the fall.
