A host of karate kids have taken a step up after attending a grading session at Claires Court Junior Boys School in Maidenhead.
The Ridgeway site at Maidenhead Thicket hosted more than 70 boys and girls aged between eight and 15, who brushed up on their Shotokan karate skills in a masterclass led by sixth dan sensei Ashley Jansen.
The grading, which took place on Sunday, June 30, then tested students' abilities with a sequence of moves known as a kata and attacks and blocks in pair work, known as kumite.
The gradings were part of a summer course run by the School of Traditional Karate in Windsor.
