Police officers armed with Tasers were called to Brookdene Close in Maidenhead on Friday.
A 20-year-old man armed with a plank of wood with nails sticking out of it was arrested on suspicion of assault.
The incident happened at about 2.15pm. An assault victim had suffered bruising and scratching on his arm.
Although authorisation was given to police to use Tasers they were not fired.
The man has been released on bail until June 24.
