The son of iconic film star Diana Dors has revealed what life was like at the sprawling mansion in Sunningdale where he spent his childhood.

Jason Dors-Lake has co-written Connecting Dors: The Legacy Of Diana Dors where he talks about living at Orchard Manor in Shrubbs Hill Lane with his mother who was known as the UK's Marilyn Monroe.

The 43-year-old lived there until he was 14, before moving to Los Angeles after his mother died of ovarian cancer in 1984 and father Alan Lake committed suicide.

Jason said: "It was a very colourful childhood and I was exposed to a lot of things at a very young age.

"It was crazy and people like actors Richard Harris, and Andrew Ray and The Who drummer Keith Moon would come by.

"But it was a very happy time and I loved Sunningdale."

His parents' home was famed for the wild drugs, alcohol and sexual liaision parties.

The father-of-one said: "I remember writer Lionel Bart coming out of the toilet with cocaine all down his jacket. My grandmother said it was talcum powder and was brushing it off."

Jason said he was offered drugs and alcohol from the age of five, while his mum tried to hide him from it as best she could.

The former Charters School pupil said: "She was such a lovely mother, very down to earth and always warm. With all the things going on she would just ask if people wanted a cup of tea."

Jason said exposure to alcohol and drugs at a young age affected him 'greatly' and he went on to become an alcoholic in his 20s, but has been clean for three years.

He said: "I am lucky to be alive. My male role models were Oliver Reed and my father.

"All the alcoholics congregated there."

Now living in Broadstairs, Kent, he said he is enjoying being sober and looking for acting roles while running a business selling memorablia of his mum.

He said: "Someone said to me you always see Marilyn Monroe and James Dean stuff, but nothing of my mum.

"I want to keep her memory alive."

He regularly visits Sunningdale to visit his parents' graves and says he only has fond memories of the place that 'made him who he is'.
