A major clean-up operation has been launched after ‘technical issues’ have resulted in raw sewage being pumped into the River Thames.
Water firm bosses have apologised following the leak at the Little Marlow Sewage Treatment Works on Saturday afternoon and again yesterday morning.
The amount of sewage, or how long it was being pumped into the water, as not been confirmed.
The first incident came as sun-seekers flocked to the banks of the Thames to enjoy the weekend spring weather.
The foul mess floated downstream, towards Maidenhead, and surrounded boats moored at Bourne End Marina.
