A burst water main in Furze Platt Road in Maidenhead left about 40 households without water or with low pressure yesterday.
South East Water was alerted to the leak overnight on Monday and was forced to switch off the permanent traffic lights at the junction with Switchback Road South and install temporary lights to carry out repairs safely.
The water was switched off while workmen were at the scene, but was briefly turned back on in the morning and afternoon to help minimise disruption.
The work was delayed when the pipe burst for a second time after an initial repair was carried out.
Water supplies were returned to normal by 11.20pm last night.
