Drivers are being advised to avoid the M40 near Maidenhead this evening after a section was closed by police three hours ago.
The motorway has been closed near Cressex Road roundabout in High Wycombe, due to 'fear for a man’s welfare.'
Police said both lanes of the motorway have been closed, until further notice, from junction 4B to junction 3 on the M40.
Traffic is being diverted, and motorists are advised to avoid the area, as long delays are expected.
The emergency services and Highways Agency are currently at the scene, trying to resolve the situation.
