Tuesday Weather: Roads gritted again in freezing conditions

The Royal Borough said gritters were out overnight to treat primary routes in freezing conditions.

They said a response team remains on call to refill the 140 grit bins placed with parish councils and local communities across the borough.

And there is sufficent salt in stock to deal with weather conditions over the next few days and more is on order as a precautionary measure.

The council said following inspections in the Ascot and Sunningdale area this morning, today's scheduled waste collections will go ahead, although slightly later than usual.

There may be a small number of places where vehicle access may not be possible but the crews will do their very best to get in and retrieve the bins. Catch-up collections for residents whose services were suspended on Friday and yesterday because of the adverse weather will be put in place once conditions improve.

The Royal Borough's civic amenity site and the household waste recycling centre are open as usual today. All school transport is running as usual this morning.

There are no reported school closures in the area today. If your school is closed, leave a comment in the box below.

In Slough the bin lorries did go out yesterday but some roads were too icy for lorries to negotiate safely.

The crews will be out again today for the usual Tuesday collection route but some areas may be missed if the roads are not safe for the vehicles.

Extra crews will also be on duty throughout the week attempting to collect from areas missed.

The Met Office said inland areas will be mainly dry today with some sunny spells, but with patchy freezing fog slow to clear. The maximum temperature will be one degree today.
