The black Smart car

A teenager has captured the moments of a car fire in Maidenhead in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Eyewitness Luke Sloan ran out of his home after seeing the black Smart car on fire at 3am in Whurley Way, in Furze Platt.

The fire service are treating it as suspected arson.

Luke, 18, who is studying art and design at Reading College, said: "I was woken up by one of my family members and it was all a bit of a shock.

"When I looked out of the window I realised I was not dreaming."

The part-time worker at DIY store Wilkinson in Maidenhead said other shocked neighbours were looking out of their windows to watch the blaze.

One crew of firefighters from Maidenhead Fire Station attended the scene, putting out the flames within 30 minutes.

Anyone with information about the suspected arson should contact police on 101.
