Motorists are being warned not to heat up their cars by leaving them running whilst unattended.
Police are advising car owners to wake-up earlier and sit in the car whilst waiting for windscreens to defrost.
Motorists should also ensure that windows and wing mirrors are clear of ice and snow before setting off on any journey.
Jeff Pick, police community messaging co-ordinator, said: "Thieves are still around in the cold weather and they will be looking for any opportunity, when your guard is down, to steal one of the most expensive things you own."
Temperatures are expected to drop tomorrow and 5-10cms of snow can be expected, according to the Met Office.
