The life of Wraysbury's 'most famous' resident has been documented in a new biography.
Author Kaye Crawford, 30, from Southend-on-Sea, has written the story of Beryl Reid who lived in Wraysbury for 45 years.
The comedy actress lived in Honeypot Cottage on the Thames from 1951 until she died in 1996 aged 77.
She took in stray cats and at one point had 15 living with her.
Kaye spent 18 months researching the life of Beryl, who she said was an outspoken character who would often have lunch outside her home with a host of famous faces.
Kaye said: "There must be so many people in the area who remember her, she was Wraysbury's most famous resident.
"She was the first actress to play an openly lesbian part.
"She had 50 years at the top of her game but I think she's been a bit forgotten."
The book, Roll Out the Beryl, was published in August by Fantom Films.
