World's first Lego duelling rollercoaster to open at Legoland Windsor

Visitors to a famous Windsor theme park will soon be able to enjoy the world’s first Lego duelling rollercoaster.

The team at Legoland Windsor have been busy putting the finishing touches to the Minifigure Speedway, which will officially open on Saturday, April 6.

Ahead of the opening, the crew has been on hand to oil up the Team Allstars and Team Legends cars, before they took to the track for final test rides.

The new £10m attraction has been inspired by the great Speedway circuits across the world.

The high-octane rollercoaster will see riders reach speeds of up to 56km/h as they go around the dual-track layout.

Racers will take their places alongside characters such as Hot Dog Man, Corn Cob Guy, and Bumblebee Girl in Team Allstars and Team Legends cars.

Only then will they go head-to-head with the opposing team, racing forwards and in reverse with a team winning each time.

The new attraction is suitable for those measuring 1.05m and above in height.

Helen Bull, divisional director at the Legoland Windsor Resort, said: “It’s almost race day here at Legoland Windsor and the whole team is so excited to wave the checkered flag for the first riders.

“From coaster testing to polishing the wheels of the Team Legends and Team Allstars cars, the team have been busy getting everything ready as we prepare to welcome guests to the starting line.

“We can’t wait to see the new coaster in action as riders race to become Minifigure Speedway champions.”

Tickets for Legoland start from £35 per person, with kids under 90cm in height entering for free.

Tickets for this season are now on sale and can be booked at: www.legoland.co.uk
