A host of businesses and individuals who made a difference in the community were celebrated at an awards ceremony last week.
The Maidenhead and Windsor Business and Community Awards returned for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic on Friday night.
Around 200 guests were in attendance for the event at the Castle Hotel in Windsor, which was organised through a partnership between Baylis Community Media CIC, Lime Blue Solutions and the Maidenhead and District Chamber of Commerce.
President of the Maidenhead and District Chamber of Commerce, Seema Goyal kicked off proceedings with an opening speech welcoming the guests.
The night also featured compere Jonny Walker as well as guest speaker Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead’s chief executive Stephen Evans.
Maidenhead-based Eagle Claw Kung-Fu School UK entertained guests with a performance of their Lion Dance on the night. The event also featured a game of Heads and Tails which has raised £1,500 for Thames Hospice, and Cube Video were also in attendance to take videos on the night.
Guests enjoyed plenty of food and drink and watched on as a host of business and community accolades were presented on the night, ranging from a Public Services Award to the Business of the Year Award.
MyWorkSpot based in
Reform Road picked up two awards, including the Fastest Growing Business Award and the Business of the Year Award.
Will Ballantyne, director at MyWorkSpot, said: “We were thrilled to have won the Fastest Growing Business and Business of the Year awards.
“It was an honour to be recognised among so many outstanding local businesses, and we extend our congratulations to all of the finalists and winners, and to the organisers for putting on such a fantastic event.
“For many businesses it has been a challenging couple of years, but it has been great to see so many people return to the office across both our MyWorkSpot Maidenhead sites to work, meet and grow.”
Jeremy Spooner, CEO of Baylis Community Media CIC, said: “As part of the working group, alongside Lime Blue Solutions and Maidenhead [and District] Chamber of Commerce, Baylis Community Media CIC is extremely proud of the night of celebrations that was MWBCA 2023, hosted at The Castle Hotel in Windsor.
“The awards provided a platform to recognise and celebrate the wonderful businesses we have within RBWM and of course the heroes who selflessly work to help others.
“It was a night of celebration and fun that we hope all those who attended enjoyed and will be back again next year with the next chapter in their journeys to be celebrated.”
Seema Goyal, president of the Maidenhead and District Chamber of Commerce and managing director of Goyals, said: “I think it went really well and we need to have more of these events in the future. It just brings more businesses together and to see these faces like Goyals, have been part of Maidenhead for over 50-60 years now, and to see the second generation, for me personally, it's very, very important, very, very precious as well for us to be part of that.”
Seema added that another Maidenhead and Windsor Business and Community Awards is being planned for around the same time next year.
