The new leader and cabinet for the Royal Borough were confirmed at Tuesday’s annual council meeting.
Cllr Simon Werner, whose Lib Dem party secured a majority in the local elections earlier this month, was formally elected as the new council leader.
The new cabinet – announced last week – was also rubber-stamped, with Cllr Lynne Jones (OWRA, Old Windsor) becoming deputy leader and cabinet member for finance.
Cllr Werner said: “It is a huge honour to be elected leader of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and confirm the borough’s new cabinet.
“We are all committed to putting the borough at the heart of the community and want to work with residents to find the right way forward.
“I want to see an inclusive council and I look forward to working with our amazing residents in coming to decisions and this new cabinet starts that process.”
A few councillors have also been appointed to ‘champion’ roles to focus on specific areas within the borough.
These include social housing (Cllr Helen Taylor) and volunteering (Cllr Jack Douglas).
Cllr Mandy Brar (Lib Dem, Bisham and Cookham) will chair licensing panels, while Cllr Gurch Singh (Lib Dem, St Mary’s) will chair Maidenhead Town Forum. Cllr Alison Carpenter (TBFI, Clewer and Dedworth East) will chair Windsor Town Forum.
