The Prince Philip Trust Fund has given out another £60,000 in grant funds to over 30 charities, projects, and individuals.
In its final round of funding for this year, the trust fund has provided grant funds to 36 charities, projects, and individuals, bringing the total funds given out to support Royal Borough residents in 2022 to £110,000.
At a recent board of trustees meeting, three new trustees were also welcomed to the board, including Penny Branch from the Royal Albert Institute Fund, Lt Gen Philip Jones – as part of his role as the constable and governor of Windsor Castle – and Chris Wilson, who was also appointed as treasurer earlier this year.
Grants were awarded to a number of charities supporting families going through a difficult time, including Family Action, Family Friends, The Cowshed, Re:Charge R&R, The Baby Bank, The Link Foundation and K Community Foundation.
Berkshire Unicorns RFU, an inclusive rugby club aimed at supporting the LGBTQ+ community, received a grant for equipment.
Windsor Cycle Hub also received a grant toward the costs of its mobile repair shop and funding was also provided for extra training sessions for the Electric Eels, a synchronised swimming club for children and adults with Down syndrome.
Projects encouraging healthy living have also received funding, including an obesity reduction programme run by The Cedars Surgery and a Walk & Talk active group run by Autism Berkshire.
A number of schools in the area have also successfully applied for funding for projects including money towards an outdoor swimming pool refurbishment at Oakfield First School, teambuilding at Furze Platt School, and a mentoring programme at The Windsor Boys’ School.
Arts projects such as Norden Farm’s Lantern Parade and the Maidenhead Community Book Festival also received funds.
Chris Aitken, secretary and trustee of the charity said: “It is always truly heartening to see the wide variety of projects and good causes taking place within the Royal Borough that are helping to strengthen and support our local community.
“It is one constant reminder of the dedication to the service that was the hallmark of the life of Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, and our founder, HRH Prince Philip.”
