Windsor FC manager Mick Woodham is looking forward to getting his side back out on the pitch on Saturday and stressed that the match against Hayes will act as a ‘reference point’ for the Royalists.
Last seasons' Hellenic League Cup runners up returned to pre-season at the beginning of the month and having been training well ahead of their first warm-up game on Saturday.
“It will be a good chance to get the cobwebs off,” said Woodham.
“We didn’t go back until July second and we’ve had no games yet so we are a little behind schedule and as some clubs have already had two or three games already but we are doing ok.
“We didn’t finish until May 6 so we were always looking to start on July 2
“Saturday will be a reference point – it won’t determine anything but it will be good to get a reference point of where we are.”
Windsor will take on a Hayes side who come into the game off the back of a 2-2 draw with National League South side Wealdstone , but Woodham is focused on building a base that the Royalists can improve as pre-season progresses.
“Like I said there’s no reference point as we haven’t played any games,” added Woodham.
“We can all run around the training pitch and look like a million dollars but on Saturday it will be whether or not they come up to scratch.”
Saturday’s match against Hayes will take place at Stag Meadow at 3pm.
